Dear Morello Park Elementary Families,

I am thrilled to introduce myself to you and can’t wait to welcome you back to campus very soon! My name is Brianna Shahvar, and it is my honor to be your new Principal. I am so grateful to the parents, faculty, and staff who shared their time during the interview process and placed their trust in me to lead this wonderful community. Joining such a warm, connected school family is a true privilege, and I am excited to get started.

A little bit about me: My family and I live just a few miles away in Pleasant Hill, where my 8 and 10-year-old sons are elementary students themselves. We love spending time here in Martinez, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have found MPE. Prior to joining you, I served as an Associate Principal at Las Lomas High School and the Contra Costa School of Performing Arts. I began my journey as an educator at the Oakland School for the Arts, and I am deeply passionate about fostering creative environments where every student can discover their unique interests and passions.

As we get closer to the first day of school, I look forward to connecting with you through weekly emails sharing upcoming events and important school updates. In the meantime, I would love to meet you in person! Please join me for an informal "Meet and Greet" next Thursday morning—details are included below or at the link here:

A huge thank you to our PTA for partnering with me to host this event. It will be a wonderful opportunity for me to meet our amazing Eagles and for all of our families to reconnect. If you can’t make it this time, don't worry—there will be plenty of other chances to chat at Coffee with the Principal and Back to School Night. I’m also looking forward to meeting our TK families at TK Boost the following week!

In the meantime, please never hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Warmly,

Brianna Shahvar

A few helpful reminders before we get started:

To receive your child's teacher assignment, please ensure your residency verification and data confirmation are up to date. If you haven't completed these yet, or the meal application, we would appreciate it if you could do so at your earliest convenience.

Steps to complete before Check-In Day on August 6th:

  • Annual Residency Verification: This is required for all returning students in grades TK-5. (New students enrolled during the current open enrollment period for the 2026-27 school year do not need to verify unless your residency has changed.) Please make sure this is completed before the first day of school on August 12th; otherwise, your child will not be permitted to attend. You may drop off your proof of residency at the school main office, the district office (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.), or email it to mperesidency@martinez.k12.ca.us.

  • Annual Data Confirmation: This is required for all returning students within MUSD. You can access the Aeries parent portal here: https://martinezusd.aeries.net/student

  • Online Meal Application: We kindly ask that all families complete the application, regardless of whether your child will receive school lunches. This helps us secure essential funding to support our school's meal program. You can apply online here: https://www.nlappscloud.com/Welcome.aspx?api=fe632405fe6c823b54c8f824cd95e573#loaded
